Art, Conversation, Connection: Discover the Art Sharing Parties at Chatham MaisonWalking into any gallery, you’ll often find yourself in a familiar scene: quiet observers moving in contemplative silence from piece to piece. Such solitary moments with art have their place. However, here at the Chatham Maison, we have always believed that art’s true magic is conveyed through conversation. A masterpiece doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It lives and breathes through the perspectives, emotions, and dialogues it inspires. That is why, alongside our exhibitions, we are thrilled to host a series of Art Sharing Parties. These events transform the gallery from a passive viewing space into a vibrant hub for community and connection. We are actively promoting this new model of art engagement because we’ve seen how a shared insight can illuminate hidden details and bring new meaning to everyone in the room. What is an Art Sharing Party? An Art Sharing Party at our gallery is an interactive, conversational gathering designed to break down the barriers between artworks and the audience. In a relaxed setting accompanied by refreshments and an open floor, we encourage our guests to connect—with art and with each other. The idea is simple—art is a multi-sensory experience that invites personal interpretation rather than right or wrong answers. Through our art-sharing parties, we bring art into daily life and foster genuine human connection.
A Glimpse of Events in ActionIn March 2025, our gallery hosted a series of five Art Sharing Parties for the “Lin Fengmian & Picasso” exhibition. The event was held within the historic Chatham House in Central Mid-Levels. The exhibition emphasized Lin Fengmian’s iconic Chinese opera works, and we invited renowned Kunqu opera performer Lü Chengfang and Peking opera master Bao Qixiang to perform in our exhibition space. Lü Chengfang's famous "narrate-while-performing" style and Bao Qixiang's authentic Mei School artistry did more than just provide entertainment—they recreated the very scenes that originally inspired Lin Fengmian. This live fusion of visual and performing arts offered guests a profound, living context for the paintings, making the artistic dialogue tangible. The event also attracted a special session co-hosted by Vogue and Valentino, blending the worlds of high fashion and fine art. The presence of celebrities and the media spotlight added a layer of contemporary relevance to the historical discourse, bringing different creative sectors together in one place.
