生命中的意外讓譚平的創作出現了新的元素，以生活與藝術的關係層面重新看待生命的意義：“畫面中的圓圈、圓點，最初在我眼中就是一個細胞。當在顯微鏡下看一個細胞的時候，它是一個圓。但當無數個細胞撲面湧來，我們所能看到的細胞個體則成了點。”畫中的紅色背景或者是母體的象徵，在混沌中孕育着生命與秩序；又或者是洪荒宇宙，從無生有，一生二，二生三，三生萬物，接近於道家的哲學觀，譚平在這裏從微觀到宏觀呈現了他視角中生命的起始狀態。鮮紅背景既象徵了生命的孕育，又表達了藝術家對生命強烈的感知。

Accident in life brought new elements to Tan Ping’s creations, and inspired him to re-examined the meaning of life from the relationship between living and art. “At first, the circles and dots in the painting were a cell in my eyes. When looking at a cell under a microscope, it is a circle. However, when there are countless cells, the individual cells we could see became dots.” The red background is either a symbol of the mother body, which nurtures life and order in the chaos; or the primordial universe, which is born from nothing, then one produces two, two produces three, and three produces everything. This is similar to the Taoist philosophy. Here, Tan Ping expresses the starting state of life from the micro to the macro. The blazing red background symbolizes the birth of life and also shows the artist’s strong perception of life.
